Round 13 at Longreach 9th July 2016
Round 13 of Winter Cross Country was held at Longreach.
As the season starts to wind down, the number of cross country runners seems to also be winding down.

There were just four 1 kilometre contenders this week with Lexie Burinaga outrunning her competitors to take first place. Tynan Caswell was second; Noah Dyall was third and Dean Osgood was fourth.

In the 2 kilomtere Division 1 there were six competitors. Crossing first was Reilly Caswell; second was Lila Pratt and third was James Babian.
Division 2 was won by Alastair Urquhart with Levi Wallis and Tennille Wallis coming in second and third respectively.

The 3 kilometre event was taken out by Tim Hopkins, followed closely by William Pratt and next was Scott Delo. Meanwhile Division 2 was claimed by veteran runner Andrew Havadjia in front of Emily Burinaga and Ella Dyball.

Crossing the line first in the medium course was Shenay Edwards. Teresha Moxham crossed second with the fastest female time of 23.04 minutes and third was Alec Dobson. Peter Dooley recorded the fastest male time of 23.09 minutes; crossing in 7th place.
Division 2 had just four takers this week. Derek Edwards followed his daughter’s lead with a first place and Gavin Dyball was second. Gavin Urquhart took third place and Megan Fitt was fourth.
Division 3 also had four competitors and this time it was Angela Edwards who finished first in her division. Donna Johnson was next followed by committee members John Price and Alison Havadjia.

Darrin Smith took line honours in the long course amongst the largest field of the day. In this all-male field Michael Duncan was second and Ming Leung third. He may not have finished first like his family members but Jye Edwards still managed to crack another record with a new fastest time of 29.40 minutes, showcasing his excellent season form. Congratulations Jye!
Long course Division 2 had six contenders with Doug Jeffrey triumphing. Laura Babian claimed second place and Kathy Hopkins was fastest female crossing in third place in 49.46 minutes. Rounding out Division 2 were Geoff Crook, Kevyn Davis and Sky Martin.

Next week’s cross country will be held at Longreach again. See you there!
